Nutrition, to me, is applied biochemistry — practised with listening, patience and respect for every person’s real life.
I am Assunta Siani, a Biologa Nutrizionista by training and, above all, by passion. For the past eleven years I have split my clinical work between Italy and Scotland — two countries, two healthcare cultures, and the same conviction that good nutrition science should feel warm, not clinical-cold.
Living between Edinburgh and Salerno shaped the way I practise: I see many of my Scottish and international patients online, with the same rigour and follow-up as an in-person visit, using structured video consultations, shared food diaries and remote body-composition tracking.
Whenever I am back in Italy, I welcome patients in person at the WellnessLab studio in Nocera Inferiore, in the province of Salerno — a small clinical space I built around diagnostic technology, natural light and, hopefully, a bit less anxiety than the average waiting room.
Whether we meet on screen or across the desk at WellnessLab, my approach does not change: evidence first, judgement never.

Research interests
Where clinical practice meets scientific curiosity
Alongside seeing patients, I follow the literature closely in four areas that shape most of the protocols I build day to day.
01
Digestive health
Gut-microbiota balance, functional dyspepsia and food-intolerance patterns, and how diet composition affects everyday digestive comfort.
02
IBS & Low FODMAP protocols
Structured elimination-and-reintroduction Low FODMAP pathways for irritable bowel syndrome, adapted to real dietary habits rather than rigid templates.
03
Women’s health
Nutrition across the menstrual cycle, PCOS, perimenopause and menopause, and how hormonal shifts change energy needs and body composition.
04
Metabolic health
Resting-metabolism assessment, insulin resistance and body-composition change over time, measured rather than assumed.

My approach
Evidence, without deprivation
Three principles guide every plan I write — on paper they sound simple; in eleven years of practice, they are the hardest part to get right.
✓
Scientific evidence
No improvised diets. Every recommendation is grounded in published clinical research and in objective measurements taken with BIA, Fitmate and adipometry — never in guesswork.
✓
No deprivation
Plans are calibrated to your real lifestyle — work, family, travel, culture — without guilt. Food stays a source of energy and everyday joy, not a list of forbidden things.
✓
Metabolic education
I explain the biochemistry behind each choice, so you understand your own metabolism and can maintain results for life — not just for the length of a diet.
